PVC vinyl flooring is made from synthetic plastic called polyvinyl chloride. PVC vinyl flooring is affordable, water resistant and very durable. Due to its synthetic nature, PVC vinyl flooring is also more customizable than natural flooring.

Maintenance

To keep PVC vinyl flooring in optimal condition, regularly vacuum and polish the floor. Never use any rough-surfaced cleaning tools on the floor, as they often result in scratches.

Installations

Lay out your tiles. Perform this step without adhesive so you can decide on patterns and layout. When you've finished, stack the tiles in the order you plan to install them. You may wish to have a stack for each row if you plan to use a complex pa Spread vinyl adhesive over half of the floor and allow it to harden slightly before installing your tiles. Press the tiles into the adhesive starting at the center of the floor, butting each tile tightly to the adjacent units. Cut tiles with a vinyl cutter or utility knife as needed Repeat Step 4 to complete the other half of the room. If using peel-and-stick tiles, skip the adhesive and simply peel the paper backing from each tile before sticking it in place. Roll the entire surface with a 100-pound floor roller when finished to ensure a firm installation. A carpet is a textile floor covering consisting of an upper layer of "pile" attached to a backing. The pile is generally either made from wool or a manmade fibre such as polypropylene, and usually consists of twisted tufts which are often heat-t structure.

Wool and wool blended with synthetic fibers:

Wool has excellent durability, can be dyed easily and is fairly abundant. When blended with synthetic fibers such as nylon the durability of wool is increased. Blended wool yarns are extensively used in production of modern carpet, with the most common blend being 80% wool to 20% synthetic fibre, giving rise to the term "80/20". Wool is relatively expensive.

Polypropylene:

This polymer is used to produce carpet yarns because it is cheap, although it is difficult to dye and does not wear as well as wool or nylon. Large looped Berber carpets made from this fiber are usually only suited for light domestic use and tend to mat down quickly. Berber carpets with smaller loops tend to be more resilient and retain their new appearance longer than large looped Berber styles. Commercial grade level-loop carpets have very small loops, and commercial grade cut-pile styles are well constructed. When made with polypropylene (also called Olefin) these styles wear very well, clean easily and are suitable for areas with heavy foot traffic such as offices. Commercial grade carpets can be glued directly to the floor or installed over a 1/4" thick, 8-pound density padding. Outdoor grass carpets are usually made from polypropylene.

Acrylic is a manmade substance, similar in appearance and feel to wool. A plastic fiber made from acrylonitrile, acrylic became a substitute for wool in a number of carpets after the 1950s. The acrylic carpet had some advantages. It was less expensive than wool, resistant to mold and mildew, easy to dye in bright colors, fast drying, and fairly stain resistant.
